Mondstadt is the city of freedom, located in the northeast of Teyvat, and the first city the Traveler goes through to find their lost sibling. They worship the Anemo Archon, Barbatos, one of the two original members of the Seven. Few of the things Barbatos had taught Mondstadt were about flight, wine, and dandelion. Barbatos is quite literally the embodiment of freedom and refuses to rule his city directly. He travels the different regions and believes the people of Mondstadt are able to govern themselves. His fellow archon, Morax, described him as a "drunkard" and "disgrace to the arts". People of Liyue, the city of Geo, often look down on them, having a god that abandoned his city. Despite this, people of Mondstadt still adore and worship the Anemo Archon. The head of the city and leader of the Knights of Favonius is called the Grand Master. The current Grand Master is a man named Varka, but much like the archon, he has a carefree spirit. As of the current timeline, he has gone on an expedition with elite forces, leaving a woman named Jean as the Acting Grand Master, who bears an Anemo vision.
